Reiki

Reiki is a gentle yet powerful treatment that brings us back into balance physically and emotionally. When we are in greater balance, our system runs better; we tend to sleep and digest better, have better immunity, experience less pain and are more resilient to stress. The consensus in the medical community is that Reiki is safe. There are no contraindications for receiving Reiki and no known side effects. It complements medical treatment. Reiki involves a light still touch. There is no manipulation.

Reiki Session

An average Reiki session is one hour long. During a Reiki session, you will lie comfortably on the table fully clothed. The practitioner will gently place my hands on you and at times over you. He or she will tailor the session to your current needs. You may experience warmth or light tingling or simply a deep relaxation as Reiki provides balancing at a deep level. Most people notice a difference after the first treatment, and the benefits grow with repeated sessions. One patient, on leaving a Reiki session, says “I came for a Reiki session with Wendy during an especially stressful time at work. When I left, I felt like myself again. I felt very relaxed and balanced, like I'd had a vacation. I immediately signed up for a series of sessions because I felt it was so beneficial.”

Reiki Series

Some people come for a single Reiki session for relaxation much as they would for a massage. If you have never tried Reiki, we suggest you come in for one session to experience it and see how you feel afterward. We find most people benefit from and maintain the results longer from a series of sessions. We often recommend a series of four sessions for people stressed out and/or going through big transitions. We find this allows for a more significant “reset” of the system. Ask me about my series discount. After this initial series, some people choose to come in for periodic “tune ups” as needed. People coping with more chronic physical or emotional health issues, may find more than one series to be helpful. Many Reiki clients become interested in taking a Reiki class to be able to do regular self-Reiki.
