Lenore M. Pomerance

Lenore M. Pomerance, LCSW is a psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker who brings more than 25 years experience in political, medical and mental health training to her private practice in Washington D.C. She counsels individuals, couples and families on issues related to mid-life decisions and change, including marriage, divorce and re-marriage, retirement planning, "empty nest syndrome," housing, sex and health. She specializes in human sexuality, including sexual orientation, incest and menopause, and issues related to chronic and terminal illnesses. She also counsels on AIDS topics, including "The Lazarus Syndrome" (the change from terminal to chronic diagnosis for HIV-positive patients). Additionally, she gives workshops to other psychotherapists on these same topics.

Lenore Pomerance holds a Masters in Social Work from The Catholic University of America and an undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley. She has three professional certifications: Group Psychotherapy from the American Group Psychotherapy Association, Clinical Program in Psychotherapy Practice from the Washington School of Psychiatry, and Certified Menopause Educator from the North American Menopause Society.

Lenore Pomerance is a post-menopausal wife, mother of three grown children, and grandmother of one. In her past, she has served as a Peace Corps volunteer, a newspaper reporter in Afghanistan, an English teacher in Taiwan, a Foreign Service wife, an energy activist, and a Capitol Hill aide. She is also a champion rower on a women's competitive crew team, and you can find her three mornings a week on the Potomac River at daybreak, training for her next meet.
